Travel Vaccinations

blue_on_white_globe.jpgIf you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. Before you come to see the nurse please ring the MASTA helpline (this is a chargeable service) to enquire about up to date vaccinations for the destinations that you are visiting. The number for this is 09068 224100. This will include which countries and areas within countries. There is also a website for Masta
There is also a website which you can check for the vaccinations you may need which gives free advise netdoctor

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment may be required with the practice nurse to receive any follow up vaccinations. These vaccines may have to be ordered if they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to provide immunity.

A number of travel vaccines are not included in the services provided by the NHS and are therefore chargeable. If this is the case they are provided on a private prescription. The charge we make is to cover the cost of the vaccine with a small amount to cover the nurses time for administration.
