Ordering repeat prescriptions

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

Carterton Surgery repeat prescriptions  

Requests for repeat medication at Carterton Health Centre will be collected by Carterton Chemist or Oxfordshire Pharmacy either the same day or following day and should be ready for collection from the pharmacy 3 working days later. 

Requests handed in to either of the pharmacies are delivered to the practice daily for printing and signing of the prescriptions and will be ready for collection from the pharmacy five working days later.

Please do not phone us with requests for repeat prescriptions as these will not be actioned.

Collecting your prescription

Information:

You can usually collect your prescription 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • using the GP online system: Patient Access
  • fill out a nominate a pharmacy form
  • at the surgery
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • phone our prescription clerk on 01993 850257 who is available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 5pm. Please note the prescription clerk is unable to advise if your prescription is ready for collection
  • fill out an ask a prescription question form

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
